On April 11 dr. Piotr Derengowski delivered a lecture titled „Conducting Research on the Civil War from the Perspective of an Outsider” as a part of VSU Undergraduate Research Symposium. The annual symposium is providing an excellent platform for students to improve their scientific workshop.

This was another speech by Dr. Derengowski during his current stay in the US. Earlier, in February he delivered a paper titled “Polish sources to the Civil War” as a part of Annual Meeting of Georgia Association of Historians.

Prof. UG, dr hab. Magdalena Nowak’s book  "Два світи. Проблема національної ідентифікації Андрея Шептицького в 1865–1914 роках" has just been published  in Lviv by the Publishing House “Swichado” –  the Publishing House of UG, Lviv-Gdańsk 2023. It has been translated by an excellent Ukrainian translator and a historian Andryi Pavlyshyn.

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Split, a partner of the University of Gdańsk within the SEA-EU Consortium, has prepared the international Master's degree program Democracy and Resilience in Modern Society. Among the academic staff of this innovative field of study there are also three researchers from the Faculty of History, University of Gdańsk - dr hab. Barbara Klassa, prof. UG, dr hab. Magdalena Nowak, prof. UG oraz dr hab. Iwona Sakowicz-Tebinka, prof. UG.

From February 3rd to 5th, 2023, the Annual Meeting of the Georgia Association of Historians was held at Valdosta State University, Georgia, USA. For the first time in the history of this association, the participants had the opportunity to listen to the entire panel whose participants were historians from Poland. Dr.

The Faculty of History of the University of Gdańsk concluded two cooperation agreements within the Erasmus+ Programme with Ukrainian universities: the National University of Transport in Kyiv and the National University of V. Karazin in Kharkov. The agreements allow 3 students from Kyiv and 5 students from Kharkov to spend the summer semester 2022/23 at the Faculty of History of the University of Gdańsk. Also, three research and teaching employees from both universities will be able to come to us for one-week stays as a part of Teaching Mobility. 

Public History -  Cooperation of the Faculty of History of the University of Gdańsk with Valdosta State University, USA - joint online classes in the Fall Semester 2022/23.

For 5 years the Faculty of History of the University of Gdańsk has been developing partnership cooperation with the Department of History, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Valdosta State University, Georgia, USA. The upcoming year 2023 can be for sure called the "Polish Year at VSU". This year, two employees of the Faculty of History / UG - Dr. Piotr Derengowski and Assoc. Prof., Dr habil. Magdalena Nowak - are going to teach as fellows at VSU, and the student exchange program will be strengthened. 

Assoc Prof. Dr. Yulia Kiselyova from the V N. Karazin Kharkiv National University received a monthly "Polish-Ukrainian scientific programme" UG research grant at the Faculty of History, University of Gdańsk. She conducted her research at the Faculty of History from April 26th, 2022 to May 25th, 2022. During his stay at the Faculty of History UG Prof. Kiselyova prepared a paper summarizing the results of the project "Historiographic Dissertation of the Era of Ukrainian Independence through the Prism of the Quantitative Method".

On June 30, 2022, a Zoom meeting was held between representatives of the authorities and the staff of Valdosta State University and the University of Gdańsk (Faculty of History). The meeting served to tighten cooperation between our universities. The event was attended by four deans and vice-deans of faculties: Dr James T. LaPlant, Professor - Political Science, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences; Dr. Michael P. Savoie, Professor of Mass Media, Dean of the Honors College; Dr. habil. Arkadiusz Janicki, Assoc.

The Leibniz ScienceCampus Europe and America in the Modern World is delighted to welcome Prof. Dr. Anna Mazurkiewicz to Regensburg as a visiting professor from April to July 2022. She holds the Chair in Contemporary History at the Faculty of History at the University of Gdansk (Poland), while in Regensburg, she will be based at the Graduate School of East and Southeast European Studies (GSOSES-UR), one of the ScienceCampus’ partner institutions.
